Bike Stripping Dumpster Bash!

BikeWorks is overflowing and it’s time to strip some bikes and send them off to the metal recyclers!  The more the merrier, so come on out on Sunday May 30th from 6PM onwards to help us clean up our act. 2008 Rs of Excellence Awards - Call for Nominations

Hurry - application deadline is August 15, 2008

The RCA is seeking nominations for its 2008 Rs of Excellence Awards.

If you know a person, program or organization that has made an outstanding contribution towards waste reduction, please let us know.

Application is simple - Submit a brief description of the nominee’s achievements and why you think they deserve an award. Considered criteria include:

  • Environmental impacts (i.e. quantified reductions in waste)
  • Innovation and progressiveness
  • Leadership
  • History and track record
  • Overall environmental commitment

Please include contact information for the nominee as well as yourself. Also include two letters of support with your nomination.

Stakeholder Consultations for Alberta's New Paint Stewardship Program

Alberta's paint recycling program will be implemented on April 1, 2008. The Alberta Recycling Management Authority has been delegated to manage this new program.

Alberta Announces Long-Term Waste Strategy

As part of Waste Reduction Week, on Thursday, October 18 in Red Deer, Minister Rob Renner announced a new long-term waste strategy, which shares Waste Reduction Week's slogan "Too Good to Waste". The first action in the strategy is a new paint stewardship program that will enable Albertans to recycle used or leftover paint. Read More

RCA Newsflash "Alberta Paint Stewardship Program"

Recycling Council of Alberta

Alberta Environment announced that beginning April 1, 2008, leftover paint and empty paint containers will be collected and recycled under a new provincial stewardship program. Assistant Deputy Minister Bev Yee sent a letter to stakeholders introducing the program's purpose and background, and also announcing upcoming consultation sessions. The Alberta Recycling Management Authority has been delegated to manage the new program. Read More
