Forestry Deal Pre-empts North SK plan

The Government of Alberta has quietly signed a new 20 year Forest Management Agreement (FMA) with Sundre Forest Products, apparently bypassing the imminent North Saskatchewan planning process. The deal will make watershed and wildlife conservation more difficult in the FMA’s 5600 km2 area of North Saskatchewan and Red Deer River forested headwaters that affects the water security of over a million Albertans downstream. New Publication: Atlas of the North Saskatchewan River Watershed

The NSWA is pleased to announce its newest publication: Atlas of the North Saskatchewan River Watershed. The content has been gathered from a number of sources, including technical studies prepared by the NSWA. The Atlas is intended to provide a broad overview of the watershed, its natural attributes and the nature of human activities affecting it. We hope the Atlas will increase public awareness about the watershed and the need to manage it carefully to protect water supplies for future generations. "Water in Focus" Photo Contest & Photo Exhibition

Come celebrate our waters through the lens of a camera!

Click here for all of the details.

The North Saskatchewan Riverkeeper is launching our first "Water in Focus" Photo Contest and Event Exhibition.  The photo contest and exhibition are focused on four "water-themed" photo categories that capture everyone's relationship with water.  Every amateur photographer in Canada either has a photo or can take a photo that fits one of our categories.

The photo contest entry and payment is all online, secure, and confidential.  We want as many people as possible to be involved with celebrating our waters through photography and the dialogue one photo can create about our water. The photo contest starts today and will be open until March 31/2012. Read more about "Water in Focus" Photo Contest & Photo Exhibition
