On behalf of Environment Canada (EC) and Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development (ESRD), I would like to invite up to three representatives from the Alberta Environmental Network to participate on each of the Component Advisory Committees (Air, Water, Biodiversity, and Wildlife Contaminants and Toxicology).  The Component Advisory Committees support the Joint Canada-Alberta Implementation Plan for Oil Sands Monitoring (“the Implementation Plan”). "Stand Up For The River" Race and Spectator Event

Saturday morning, August 24, is your chance to join the North Saskatchewan Riverkeeper and "Stand Up for the River".

Come check out the Easy Rider Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) race and tour from Hawrelak/Laurier Park bridge or other viewing points along the the North SK River down to Rafter's Landing. Tar Sands Healing Walk

The Healing Walk started in 2010 in Fort McMurray Alberta, which is located in the Northern Boreal Forest. Fort McMurray is in Treaty 8 where for the past 50 years there has been oil extraction. Initially the extraction was oil, it is now crude which is a much heavier form of oil and takes more energy and water to extract, making it one if the dirtiest oils on the planet. Progress update shows little change, two years after road map to responsible oilsands development released

With substantial progress on only two of 19 recommendations, faster implementation of oilsands environmental solutions needed to secure social license for future development

Edmonton — Two years after the Pembina Institute outlined 19 steps toward responsible oilsands development in a report entitled Solving the Puzzle, and one year after Alison Redford won a majority government, very little progress has been made on the recommended policy improvements, according to an update released by the Institute today. May Watershed Ambassador Breakfast

The Red Deer River Watershed Alliance (RDRWA) is hosting its monthly Ambassador Breakfast.

There will be a presentation by Lynn Robb, Director of Conservation Education with Trout Unlimited Canada. She is going to speak about Trout Unlimited Canada’s Yellow Fish Road program - a fun and interactive water education program that explores our role in maintaining strong and healthy freshwater ecosystems. The program builds on a culture of caring for our waters throughout Canada that drives choices and actions to be a part of a positive change for clean and healthy water.
