Workshop - More Parks Now, Not Bill 29

Tourism, Parks & Recreation Minister is still determined to get Bill 29 passed. She will be undertaking some form of outreach or consultation on Bill 29 during this summer (see notes for form-letter MLAs are sending in reply to letters from citizens). Lets continue to work together to set the agenda in favour of more parks and their legislative protection before summer.

Minister’s decision to withdraw Bill 29: an encouraging step for Alberta’s Parks & Protected Areas

(Calgary, AB) The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) is applauding Cindy Ady, Minister of Parks Recreation and Tourism, for withdrawing the new Provincial Parks Act (Bill 29) from the spring session of legislature. Since November, thousands of Albertans and Canadians have written the Minister stating strong concerns with the Bill and its potential impact on Alberta’s most precious protected areas. Read More

Alberta Shines As Minister Withdraws Bill 29

The bill threatened the natural integrity of Alberta's parks

Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) is applauding Albertans and the Alberta Government for putting our wilderness first by withdrawing the proposed Alberta Parks Act-Bill 29.  Announced today in the midst of Alberta Legislature, Minister Ady stood up for the protection of Alberta parks as she withdrew the controversial Bill 29 and announced that a public consultation will be held for future parks legislation. Doctors speak to cancer rates and health impacts in Fort Chipewyan
