The Watershed Stewardship Grant (WSG) Program provides funding to support collaborative, community-based stewardship efforts consistent with the principles, goals and outcomes of Alberta’s Water for Life strategy. Grants up to $7,500 are issued once per year to eligible groups on a per-project basis.

2012 Watershed Stewardship Grant

The 2012 Watershed Stewardship Grant (WSG) will begin accepting applications on January 1st, 2012.

Since 2005, the WSG program made possible through the Government of Alberta’s Water for Life Strategy, has provided funding to the province’s stewardship community to support their efforts.

Grants up to $7,500 are awarded to watershed stewardship groups working in their communities to raise awareness of local watershed issues or to improve the condition of their local watershed. Read More

ASN Watershed Stewardship Grant Program

The Alberta Stewardship Network (ASN) is accepting applications for the 2011 Watershed Stewardship Grant Program.

Stewardship groups can apply for up to $7500 in funding for watershed stewardship related projects to be completed before March 31, 2012.

Groups may submit applications as a registered society or in partnership with an eligible legal entity (see application form pages 1–2 for more details). Read More

This month signals the kick-off of the public forums for the Southern Foothills Community Stewardship Initiative, a regional citizen’s initiative to give voice to local priorities and recommendations for the Southern Foothills landscape and watersheds. The intent of the initiative is to inform land use planning and stewardship processes at the municipal and provincial level, and to contribute to building the long term, regenerative capacity of the region’s landscape. Call for Green Development Case Studies

The Land Stewardship Centre of Canada is currently developing a Green Communities Guide to provide community stewards (including elected officials, municipal departments, stewardship groups, watershed planning and advisory councils, developers, and others) with information on practical tools (e.g. design practices and policies) to help make the built environment more ecologically-functional, or "green." Based on this research a publication will be produced later in 2008 and a workshop series will be conducted in late 2008-2009 to share the results with target audiences. Read More

The Alberta Stewardship Network (ASN) is now inviting Watershed Stewardship Groups working in Alberta to submit Applications for grants up to a maximum of $7,500 for the Spring 2007 grant cycle.

Under Water for Life: Alberta's Strategy for Sustainability, the Government of Alberta (GOA) and its partners recognize the tremendous grassroots effort found in communities across the province to care for our watersheds and water resources. To support this effort, the GOA has provided further funds to the Alberta Stewardship Network (ASN) to, in turn, provide support for Watershed Stewardship Groups.1 Read More
