Confused by the debate of organic versus local food? Join Kristi Peters, manager of Calgary’s River Café and sink your teeth into the issues and implications of getting food to your plate. Discover the impacts your eating habits have on our economy and environment.

Fun Fescue Frolic
Do up your boots and tackle the 4.8 km Fescue Trail with your family! Discover birds, animals, grasslands and Area history on this guided interpretive hike. Games and various activities will make this a day to remember! Bring a bagged lunch and come prepared to be outside. Recommended for ages 6+.

Ready, Set, Survive!
Preparation can make the difference between staying safe and surviving in the outdoors. We’ll reveal the 10 essentials for your pack, how to use them and what to use in the environment in case of an emergency. Learn to identify edible plants, ways to construct a shelter and effective signaling methods.

Batman Returns!
The real Batman, Robert Barclay of the University of Calgary, returns! Bats are often misrepresented as scary Halloween creatures, but Dr. Barclay will shine a new light on these mysterious mammals with natural history, games, amazing pictures and sounds. If we’re lucky, he may even bring a live bat friend!
