As you know, there are many workbooks and consultation processes underway in Alberta right now. I urge you to consider investing time in two of them that may have significant impacts on the environmental community:
- The new proposed Community Spirit Fund initiated by Premier Stelmach. This is your opportunity to impress upon the Premier and Fund Committee that the environment should be included and/or a priority for this fund. Check it out at http://tprc.alberta.ca/communityspirit/Default.aspx
- Bill 1: The Lobbyist Act has passed second reading and is in committee. Harvey Cenaiko is chairing the committee. The (perhaps unintended) consequences of this Bill will have huge impacts on the voluntary sector. Both the Calgary and Edmonton Chamber of Voluntary Resources' are working on the second issue. Watch for details on how to provide feedback in this process or consider contacting your MLA for information and impacts.
