The Pigeon Lake Watershed Association (PLWA) is one of Alberta’s leading watershed organizations. We are working with the 12 municipalities in the Watershed, Maskwacis Cree, business community, and local volunteers to implement the Pigeon Lake Watershed Management Plan and deliver LakeWise outreach programming.

The PLWA is eager to welcome two new summer students in 2020. As part of the PLWA team, the Environmental Science Interns will be responsible for promoting watershed stewardship. PLWA Summer Students will be key in helping members of community to "Be Part of the Solution" – to learn, act, and ultimately live as healthy lake stewards. You will work with PLWA staff, working groups and volunteers on a number of summer programs, including:

  • Welcome to the Lake Program (For new residents)
  • Shoreline Naturalization
  • Clean Runoff Program
  • Healthy-lake Lawn Maintenance
  • Riparian and Littoral Health
  • Invasive Species Program - Aquatic Invasive Species, Prevention Strategy, Elimination of Noxious Weed
  • Promoting Native Plants
  • Lake Stewardship Education /Events/Programs
  • Love the Lake Family Fun Day
  • AGM / Open House
