The Alberta Environmental Network (AEN) connects Albertans and environmental groups that are dedicated to preserving and protecting Alberta’s environment. As a non-profit and non-partisan organization, the AEN supports collaboration of the environmental community throughout the province.

We are a network of individuals and groups working together on shared concerns. AEN members include individuals and representatives from member groups that connect, collaborate and share information.

The AEN is a link between the environmental community and government, industry, the media and all Albertans.

EUB Proposes to Weaken Enforcement Policy

The Energy Utilities Board (EUB) is proposing to revise their Enforcement Policy. On March 21st, the EUB issued Bulletin 2005-09 inviting comments to be submitted by April 8th on their Draft Compliance Assurance – Enforcement Directive.

The Bulletin talks about prevention of noncompliance, continuous performance improvement and communication and education but according to Martha Kostuch, an environmentalist who is active in energy issues, there is nothing in the draft objective that enhances prevention, continuous improvement or communication and education.

No Fooling! Alberta Continues To Hunt Its Threatened Grizzly Bears

Friday April 1st - or All Fools Day - marks the first day of Alberta's spring grizzly bear hunt. The irony is not lost on Albertans, who have been increasingly calling for a suspension of the hunt until grizzly populations recover to a healthy level.

"If the situation weren't so deadly serious for Alberta's grizzlies, you might believe that it was some sort of bad taste joke," says Nigel Douglas, Alberta Wilderness Association Conservation Specialist. Fossil Fools Day - Edmonton

On Friday, April 1, thousands of people across the U.S., Canada and the U.K. will come together as part of the Second Annual Fossil Fools Day.

Edmontonians are participating by targeting Ford. Ford Motor Company has the worst fuel efficiency among America’s and Canada's major automakers.

We are hoping you will help by coming out and forming the Climate Change Scene Investigators (CCSI). Feel free to simply show up or come dressed up ready for a radio active scene (TVEK suits, masks, come dressed as an animal, bird or plant etc.).

The action will take place this Friday at 11:00 at Koch Ford - 5121 GATEWAY BLVD come five or 10 minutes early just to set up. Read More
