YEP Speaker Event: Calgary's Sustainable Future - Plan It Calgary

October 9, 2008 - 12:00am

Young Environmental Professionals - Calgary Chapter

Over the next 50 – 60 years, Calgary is forecast to grow by another 1.3 million people. Managing where and how that growth is accommodated and working with communities and businesses to direct change in the right places and at the right time is critical to ensure Calgary becomes a more sustainable city. Protecting the natural environment, making sure the Calgary economy remains strong and that our communities are vibrant and accommodating will define its sustainability.

The Plan It Calgary project explores possible futures for Calgary through an integrated land use and mobility plan. Join us as Pat Gordon, Project Manager for Plan It Calgary, explains the 11 sustainability principles that lay the foundation for the plan and speaks about the first phase of the project including three city-wide scenarios that contain different land use patterns and transportation networks.
