With Workshop Facilitators:

  • Sheila Muxlow of the Sierra Club, and
  • Scott Harris of the Council of Canadians

Alberta is on the brink of a serious water crisis. As water in the province becomes increasingly scarce, for the first time in over a decade the provincial government is undertaking a review to update the Water Act, which determines who gets access to this vital resource.

With the provincial government looking to move to a province-wide deregulated market system to allocate water rights, which would give the highest bidder access to this essential human and planetary right, it is vital that all Albertans get involved in the process.

Join us for an interactive workshop to learn more and discuss how you can get involved in ensuring decisions about who gets access to water are driven by environmental and basic human needs, not by profit.

This event is part of World Water Week in Edmonton

There will be events throughout the week, along with tabling on campus, including taste testing bottled water vs tap water, information on groups involved in World Water Week and ways to get involved in water issues.
