Earth Day Neighbourhood Clean Up Challenge
From the Plastic-Free YYC Facebook event:
Fight the cabin fever and get outside for Earth Day April 22nd! We are inviting Albertans to join our 2020 #wastefreechallenge: keep up social distancing while picking up trash around your neighbourhood.
We know our society is facing big challenges, but our mission to care for and protect the environment from plastic pollution continues. This Earth Day, fight the restlessness of sitting at home and get outside to pick up trash around your community for a cleaner, healthier planet, and have some fun. Without a healthy planet, there is no healthy 'us'.
We are compiling a prize of gift cards from local Albertan businesses and a few fun zero waste goodies that each participant will be entered into a draw to win.
How to Participate:
- Grab your safe garbage picking up gear (gloves, bags, and pickers*) and head outside.
- Keep practising your social distancing - while walking around your community, visit less populated areas and respect the 2m rule.
- Take lots of pictures! We want to see how much trash you can pick up.
- Your choice to partake in the IG contest.
Instagram Contest Rules:
Follow @plasticfreeyyc and @zerowastefestYYC, upload a story or IG post showing you walking around or of a pile of trash you collected with #wastefreechallenge tag 2 friends, and tag us so we can see it’s an entry.
Contest runs on April 22nd from sunrise (6:30am) to sunset (8:30pm). Only entries on this day will count.
Keep it safe (link to safety tips) and keep it socially distant.
*We can NO LONGER provide gloves or bags
This event is FREE.
We look forward to seeing your pictures on April 22.
