SC Chinook Group Meeting: Regional Municipal Sustainability Initiatives

September 10, 2009 - 1:00am

After our regular summer meeting hiatus, and a number of great summer events and outings, Sierra Club Chinook Group is back this fall with another exciting meeting line-up.  NOTE: September's meeting has been bumped to Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 7 pm (1 week later than normal) due to a late Labour Day holiday this year.

September's Topic: Panel Discussion on Regional Municipal Sustainability Initiatives

While most of us live in Calgary and many of us know what is happening here, do we know what's happening in our regional backyard?  While Calgary has been chugging forward with recycling and C-Train expansion, other municipalities in the region have also been making strides towards sustainability - and in many ways leading the charge.

Please join the Sierra Club for this interesting panel discussion that will showcase some of the sustainability initiatives currently being rolled out in the region's other cities and towns, including the Town of Okotoks.  We will be joined by three of the region's sustainability coordinators and planners, who will each touch on some highlights from their municipality, and begin an evening of discussion on where the region could go from here.

The Sierra Club Chinook Group holds a free, monthly public meeting at 7 pm on the first Wednesday of each month at the Calgary Area Outdoor Council building (1111 Memorial Drive NW, upstairs, entrance at the back).

If you have any questions or to RSVP (optional), email SC CG Meetings Coordinator Alex Taylor at: [email protected].
