Seedy Sundays and Seedy Saturdays are public events that bring together home and community gardeners, seed savers, native plant collectors and agricultural conservation groups. Local seed companies sell open-pollinated varieties of vegetables, fruits, flowers, grains and herbs. The first Seedy Saturday was held in Vancouver in 1989 and the event has grown to include similar events across Canada.
The Mandate of Edmonton Seedy Sunday is:
- to promote seed saving and sharing
- to support the distribution of organic and open-pollinated seeds
- to share information for gardening organizations
- to encourage a community of gardeners - young and old!
