When is the Tour?
The 14th annual Eco-Solar Home Tour is on Saturday June 1, from noon until 4 pm. You will be able to soak up the first-hand experience of homeowners and other experts with a wide variety of energy and water resource-saving technologies in new construction and retrofit applications.
What will I see?
What interests you? Solar electricity or solar hot water? Making your house really energy efficient? Geothermal heating or low-water landscaping? Retrofit or New construction? The Tour will have homes that showcase some of Edmonton's best examples of energy-efficient ideas to discover how you can take steps to reduce your gas, electricity and water use, save money and lower your environmental footprint!
Isn't this just about Solar Panels?
No! Solar electric technologies are just one aspect of making a home energy efficient. The homes on our tour feature many other ideas from new lighting, water efficiency, improved insulation and windows, efficient landscaping, carbon footprint reduction ideas, and many more. How do I get there?
No pre-registration is required. You go from site to site and speak with the homeowners and technical experts. You can cycle, walk or take your own vehicle to any of the sites. We have tried to select homes that are spread out across the City so that there should be one near where you live. We suggest that you get out to see the homes nearest to you and then if a particular technology interests you then make your way to the homes that include that feature.
