Earthbag Building Presentation

January 17, 2013 - 1:30am to 4:00am

ReThink Red Deer is back at it in the new year with a great presentation on natural building!

Evonne and Robert Smulders, owners of Sage Permaculture in Black Diamond, AB create environments that embrace the patterns of nature. Spend the evening imagining a future where we are all builders and dreamers as we take a journey through the building process for an Earthbag building site in Joshua Tree, California.

Earthbag construction can offer an alternative building design that can create a substantial insulating mass to protect against our cold winters using resources such as sand or earth. Earthbag buildings are finished with an organic plaster to create an environmentally-friendly structure that blends into its environment.

Evonne and Robert will also talk about the history and significance of this natural technology.

Admission: $5 or pay what you can (all contributions go to the Sustainable Red Deer Society to cover event costs)
