Climb and Run for Wilderness

April 26, 2014 - 6:00am

On April 26 bring the whole family to join the Alberta Wilderness Association at the Climb and Run for Wilderness. Participants have the chance to climb the 802 stairs of the Calgary Tower, see the murals of the “tallest gallery in the west” and raise money to protect Wild Alberta. Each year almost 2,000 people, from babies in backpacks to 94 years old take part and support Alberta’s wilderness legacy and the conservation and education work that goes into protecting it.

Events start at 8 a.m. and include:

The Run for Wilderness, in which racers run one km around the base of the Tower then race 802 steps to the top!

The Climb for Wilderness, where climbers ascend the Calgary Tower’s 802 stairs in celebration of the wild lands, wild rivers and wildlife that make our province a home worth saving.

And The Wild Alberta Expo, where the whole family will discover and learn about our province’s wild places and the people who work hard to protect them. With great prizes, musicians, face painters and wildlife mascots, this is a day the whole family will enjoy.
