Climate Nights #6

September 19, 2019 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm

From the Facebook event page:

Climate Night continues! This time on a Thursday. As always, if you think about climate change but don't have a lot of places or people to talk about it in your everyday life, then we are here to help! Our conversation topics for the night will be posted soon.

Agenda for the evening:

  • 6:30 pm - Open venue (mingle/ grab food)
  • 7:00 pm - Opening and introduction to climate nights
  • 7:15 pm - Discussion breakouts
  • 8:30 pm - Regroup and discuss, Q+A
  • 9:00 pm - onward - Casual conversations, networking, and feedback opportunities for those wishing to stay

At the venue there will be:

  • Food and drinks (non-alcoholic and alcoholic) available for purchase
  • A wheelchair accessible entrance
  • Transit (LRT nearby) and *some* street parking
  • A bouldering gym on the other end of the café that you could definitely check out beforehand

Our goal is to create a community space where people can have these important discussions, to take knowledge gained with them into their daily lives and conversations, and to build roots that they can branch out from. With that goal in mind we have two ground rules:

  1. If this is your first time, great! If this is your second time, bring a friend! Especially someone who cares about climate change, but may not be involved day-to-day with these issues.
  2. Keep the conversations respectful. Some people in attendance will have been involved with the Climate movement for years, while others will be brand new. If and when disagreements arise, please keep the discussions respectful and keep our goal of creating a supportive community in mind.

We acknowledge we are located on Treaty 6 territory, a traditional gathering place for diverse Indigenous peoples including the Cree, Blackfoot, Metis, Nakota Sioux, Iroquois, Dene, Ojibway/Saulteaux/Anishinaabe, Inuit, and many others.
