From the Calgary Climate Hub website:
Join us for our new weekly speaker series about what comes next as it relates to our country, the economic system and the climate crisis once the coronovirus has come and gone. Each week, Canadian thought leaders will answer three questions:
- What are your top three 'teachable moments' from this time?
- Big picture: What can we expect of a post-COVID-19 world?
- What does Alberta look like on the other side of this and what would be optimal?
There will be time for Q&A.
We go live at 7:05 so you can continue showing your support for medical and front-line workers.
Our eighth speakers will be Celia Lee and Noel Keough of Sustainable Calgary, which is celebrating 20 years of citizen-engaged research and action.
As Executive Director, Celia specializes in designing and implementing research for the non-profit and government sectors, on topics ranging from poverty to the social economy, material culture, environmental economics, environmental design and sustainability. She shares her professional time between Sustainable Calgary and singing with groups such as Early Music Voices, Luminous Voices, and the Rosa Barroca Orchestra. Over the last six years, her role at Sustainable Calgary has been to develop and implement a made-in-Alberta approach to “co-designing” healthy neighbourhoods, and to inform policy that lends itself towards active transportation and equitable, healthy city design. Celia has co-authored work such as Becoming A City for Everyone: 2019 Ottawa Hunger Report, The Cost of Poverty in Ontario (2019), Healthy Places (2019), Every Ninth Child in Ontario (2015) and Poverty Costs (2012) in Alberta, each aimed at informing policy decisions. Celia holds a Bachelor in Environmental Biology and a Master of Environmental Design.
