Bow River Flow

August 22, 2010 - 4:00pm to August 23, 2010 - 12:00am

The 2nd Annual Bow River Flow is coming up on Sunday, August 22, 10am-6pm!

The 2010 event will bring an expanded route, creating a complete loop. The two south lanes of Memorial Drive, from 3 St. to 9 St. NW, will be opened to human-powered transportation. From the east end of the Memorial Drive closure, the event will cross the Bow River and Prince's Island over to the south side river pathway.

The Bow River Flow is a non-commercialized, non-motorized celebration of healthy active lifestyles. For one day of the summer we will share the road and allow excess lanes to be enjoyed by people in a safe, car-free environment.

It is an opening, not a closure. This family-friendly day will open up space for Calgarians to stroll or roll the historic Memorial Drive promenade, take in musical performances, participate in fitness activities, get involved in collective art, and take part in bicycle and pedestrian parades. There will also be plenty of activities just for the kids!

The Bow River Flow is Calgary's answer to similar events that have blossomed in cities all over the world -- Portland, Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver, Paris, New York, San Francisco, and Bogota. It is part of a world-wide renaissance of cities built for people.

VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED!  Roving Bike Route Ambassadors, Fitness Area Volunteers, Tune Station Support, and more! Contact Erin at [email protected] to get involved.
