The Energy Transition Working Group and the Calgary Round Table are two initiatives led by the Alberta Environmental Network (AEN) as part of a larger effort to help Alberta move toward a low-carbon economy, Advancing A Just Transition in Alberta. This work is about bringing people together, building awareness, and inspiring action to address the challenges of climate change while creating opportunities for clean energy and new types of jobs.
The Energy Transition Working Group focuses on advancing Alberta's shift to cleaner energy sources by bringing together experts, community members, and organizations. Members discuss important policies, share research, and plan strategies for collaboration to make renewable energy and sustainable practices more accessible across the province.
The Calgary Round Table connects individuals, communities, and organizations in Calgary to tackle climate and environmental issues at the local level. The Round Table works on projects to restore natural ecosystems, advocate for better municipal policies, and make Calgary a leader in sustainability and resilience.
Both groups are part of a larger project that aims to:
- Build a strong community of people and organizations who understand the need for a clean energy transition.
- Encourage Alberta's leaders to set clear plans and timelines for moving away from fossil fuels.
- Support workers and communities affected by the transition, ensuring that no one is left behind.
- Through these initiatives, AEN is helping Albertans come together to create a future that’s better for the environment, the economy, and everyone who calls Alberta home.
