Calls for Delegates

Provincial Consultations

AEN co-ordinates ENGO participation in Alberta Government and other multi-stakeholder consultations, working groups, and conferences. Past calls for delegates are listed below.

Call for Delegates: Non-Point Source Project Team, Clean Air Strategic Alliance

Initiative:
Non-Point Source Project Team
Position:
ENGO Sector Members (3 or 4)
Application Deadline:
13 Oct 2015

Background:
Non-point source (NPS) air emissions are a key element in the Government of Alberta’s (GoA) Clearing the Air: Alberta’s Renewed Clean Air Strategy (CAS), and a significant issue to CASA stakeholders. NPS emissions must be addressed if we are to maintain and improve air quality in Alberta. A project to address NPS emissions aligns with the CASA goals of providing strategic advice, and of contributing to the development and implementation of effective air quality management in Alberta. It would also contribute to management of air quality in the Capital region, Red Deer, and Calgary, by informing potential actions that could be taken as a part of regional management response plans under Alberta’s Land Use Framework, or identifying cross-cutting actions benefitting all areas. On a provincial scale, an NPS project complements CAS. Read More

The BCMB is a not-for-profit association consisting of representatives of Alberta beverage manufacturers, container depots and the public (environmental organizations, municipalities and interested citizens). The BCMB was established through the Beverage Container Recycling Regulation, which was enacted under the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act and the organization’s bylaws. Since its inception on December 1, 1997, the BCMB has worked to ensure that Albertans have access to a convenient and cost-effective system for recycling used beverage containers.

The BCMB is a Delegated Administrative Organization (DAO), an arm’s length organization that has delegated government authority under the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Resource Development to impose requirements on recycling program stakeholders. DAOs are unique – a range of stakeholders are encouraged to participate, including industry, government and the public. These parties are primarily involved in program stewardship through appointments to the Board of Directors.

One Public Member position on the Board of Directors is reserved for a designee of the Alberta Environmental Network. The current AEN-nominated Director’s 3-year term expires this spring. Read More
