Call for Delegates: Alberta Water Conversations Validation Meeting

Position:
ENGO Delegates (4)
Initiative:
Alberta Water Conversations
Application Deadline:
27 Sep 2013

Earlier this year, the Government of Alberta conducted a series of 44 Water Conversation sessions across all 11 provincial watersheds. Multiple members of the Alberta Water Council actively participated in these sessions, during which four primary topic areas were put forth for discussion. These included Healthy Lakes, Water Management, Drinking Water and Wastewater Systems, and Hydraulic Fracturing and Water. Many valuable perspectives and insights were garnered from these sessions.

Purpose and Tasks:

In establishing the direction for the Water Conversation process, Minister McQueen indicated her commitment to the development of a ‘What We Discussed’ document, the verification of this document, and the broader communication of next steps. In keeping with these commitments, we are currently seeking to confirm the major themes of what was discussed at these sessions. As part of this confirmation process, we would like to request that the AEN enable a conversation about the report themes. Input from key stakeholders, including AEN delegates, will help shape the final report. Advice and opinions collected from AEN delegates will help us to ensure the accuracy of the report and achievability of the associated actions.

Time Commitment:

One 2 hour meeting held in Edmonton on the following date: Friday, October 11, 1:30 – 3:30 pm.

Expenses & Honoraria:

Expense reimbursement and honoraria are available in accordance with the Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development – Alberta Environmental Network Communication and Reporting Protocol and contract.
