July 2, 2015 - The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency invites the public to comment on athe project update and information request responses submitted by the proponent, Teck Resources Ltd., for the environmental assessment by review panel of the proposed Frontier Oil Sands Mine Project in northern Alberta.

The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) has received Oil Sands Conservation Act (OSCA) Application No. 1820856, Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act (EPEA) Application No. 00000026-034 and Water Act Applications No. 00263298-005 and 00363203-001 from Syncrude Canada Limited (Syncrude) for approval of its Mildred Lake Extension (MLX) project. The AER is reviewing the applications together with the associated environmental impact assessment (EIA) report. Oil Sands Monitoring Symposium

The Oil Sands Monitoring Symposium will be held on February 24-25, 2015 at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta.

This two-day event will feature technical presentations on monitoring activities and results collected during the three year Joint Canada/Alberta Implementation Plan for Oil Sands Monitoring (JOSM). Scientists will present findings related to: air, water, biodiversity and wildlife health, monitoring standards and protocols, and innovative monitoring tools and techniques.

The symposium is designed for individuals interested in the scientific basis of oil sands monitoring including: environmental consultants; researchers from academic institutions, non-profit organizations, industry and government agencies; First Nations and Metis organizations; as well, students, instructors and others in the academic community and any group interested in oil sands monitoring results are encouraged to attend.

Calgary, Alberta (Nov 12, 2014)…

The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) today announced a project that will provide the organization with the necessary tools and framework to become a best-in-class energy regulator.

Following a competitive bidding process, the AER selected the University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Program on Regulation to undertake the best-in-class project.
