Join the City’s Master Naturalist Program and become a steward of Edmonton’s natural areas
Edmonton's natural areas have tremendous ecological, social, educational and economic value. To preserve this value, it is up to us as a community to be good stewards of these ecologically-rich areas!
But keeping these natural areas clean, safe and sustainable is a big job, which is one of the reasons the City of Edmonton’s Office of Biodiversity created the Master Naturalist Program. Drawing on his extensive experience of the challenges related to sustainability issues in urban water supplies, Dr. Greg Goss will describe approaches used in managing potable and waste water and discuss recent trends and scientific research in water treatment and handling. The issue of micro-contaminants in urban waste water will also be addressed drawing on a previous public lecture series entitled "Good Fish Don't Do Drugs". Read more »
The Local Good’s own Green Drinks Edmonton returns with the first event of 2014! This month the theme is alternative energy. We’ll bring together local experts on energy issues to discuss the two (or three!) perspectives sides of energy issues. The evening will host a series of bar-table debates on key topics. Guests will be invite to sit-in, participate and meander from one electifying debate to another.
