Next Up Calgary Fall Workshop Series: Leading Together

Next Up now accepting applications for its upcoming 3-day workshop

From Next Up Calgary:

Next Up Calgary is launching a new series of workshops on November 6, 7 & 10. They are replacing our 7 month long weekly leadership program. The new workshop series will cover the same core concepts, content and skills as our original program. We'll have deeper connections to communities, active facilitation and use this to support intentional solidarity with Calgary's progressive communities and leaders. Over the next 8 months we'll be holding 6 workshops, each will be a stand alone 3 day series, and all will have a specified theme. All the workshops are open to those between 18 and 32.  Read more about Next Up Calgary Fall Workshop Series: Leading Together

Change is in the Air: from Climate Chaos to Climate Justice

Jan 20 2016 - 7:00am to Jan 21 2016 - 7:00am

Change is in the Air Poster

The King’s University invites you to its Winter 2016 Interdisciplinary Studies Conference

CHANGE IS IN THE AIR – in more ways than one. On one hand, the climate is changing. Overwhelming scientific consensus confirms the reality of climate change and warns of the threat it poses to the planet and its human and non-human inhabitants. These warnings have prompted urgent appeals, not simply for changes in action and policy, but also deeper changes in how we think about and imagine our relationship to the creation itself. But change is in the air in other ways too – as vulnerable communities respond to the challenge of global warming, as our reliance on the carbon economy is being questioned, and as political leaders try to hammer out a global climate agreement, change is inevitable. Mar 15 2012 - 12:00am to 2:00am

Starting in Corner Brooke, Newfoundland, and touring all the way to Vancouver, British Columbia, youth leaders and sustainability veterans will bring the community together to discuss the role of Canadians at the Earth Summit 2012 (United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, Rio+20).

In each city, interactive lectures will be held in universities, elementary schools, middle schools and high schools. This a unique opportunity to learn about the Earth Summit 2012, Canadian participation in and contributions to the global initiatives, and Canadian civil society's submission to the official United Nations' Zero Draft for the conference. The participants will have an opportunity to participate in dialogues, and take action to ensure proper representation of Canadians at the global stage.

The goal of the tour is to empower civil society by offering an analysis of current trends in sustainable development and to hold the microphone to Canadian voices as the world accelerates to the Earth Summit 2012. Read more about Dialogues and Action for Earth Summit 2012: We Canada Tour
